Unity Foundation exists because of its commitment to promote the well-being of people of all walks of life, whatever their beliefs or background. We work within a network of local development agencies assisting them in their efforts to build capacity amongst populations to take charge of their own social and economic development.
Founded in 1980 as an “Organization of Public Utility” in Luxembourg, in 1991 the organization was granted the official status as a non governmental organization (NGO) by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Since 2011 Unity Foundation is a founding member of “Don a confiance”– a quality seal for NGO’s in Luxembourg.
Since its inception, Unity Foundation supported development projects of various kinds; over the years, and based on a continuous learning mode, a central theme emerged: education and community empowerment. Unity Foundation channels all its efforts into a development programm consisting of two types of projects: “Community Schools” and “Preparation of Social Action”. The supported projects are primarily located in Africa, but also in South America and Asia.
Our projects assist in a re-evaluation of the teaching profession, both materially, as well as by increasing recognition of the role played by educators in the building of tomorrow’s societies.
