19/03/20252024 in Review: A Year in Retrospect
Another eventful year ends! Here’s an overview of the seven highlights of the year.
1. In February, we visited our partner the Ahdieh Foundation in the Central African Republic (CAR). Exchanges with the Foundation’s team and with teachers and parents, school visits, meetings at the Ministry of Education and with UNICEF: we were delighted to learn more about our partner’s work and the solid collaborations it maintains with key players in CAR’s education sector.
2. At the end of March, we welcomed Dr Joseph Lample to Luxembourg, representing Kimanya-Ngeyo for Science and Education, our partner organization in Uganda. Meeting representatives of the Luxembourg Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs, speaking at the International School of Luxembourg and meeting representatives of the Atoz Foundation: a rich week that strengthened our relationship with our partner as well as with the various entities with which we collaborate in Luxembourg!

3. On May 11, 2024, as part of the ING Night Marathon, the Unity Run 42 brought together 430 students from seven Luxembourg high schools, successfully raising 15,476 euros to support our partner Bambino Foundation’s education programs in Malawi.

4. At the end of the year, we launched a new campaign in partnership with Thalus Water in a Box: “RestEau engagé”. As part of this campaign, several restaurants and cafés across Luxembourg are committed to supporting universal education by selling Thalus water boxes and donating part of their profits to us!
5. Among our many activities in Luxembourg, we can mention a particularly strong collaboration in 2024 with the Lycée technique de Lallange. On the one hand, a teacher offered an elective course on “Well-being, empathy and writing”: this is the first time that one of our workshops has served as the basis for an option offered to students in the school curriculum! In addition, the school management wanted us to gradually train all teachers in our workshop, so that they could use it in their tutoring hours or core subjects; in November, a first group of 25 teachers benefited from this training.
6. On Saturday November 23, a delegation from the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs visited the Bambino Foundation, our partner in Malawi. This visit, marked by enriching exchanges with community school teachers, strengthened our partnerships and reaffirmed our shared commitment to education and the development of local communities.

7. In December, we welcomed Dr. Bita Correa, Executive Director of FUNDAEC, our partner organization in Colombia, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year! Numerous meetings with entities with which we collaborate provided an opportunity for enriching exchanges on the work of our partner organization. What’s more, our end-of-year event on December 5 drew a large audience for an inspiring conversation with Dr. Correa.
Our gratitude goes to the Luxembourg Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs, our local partners, our collaborators in Luxembourg, our donors and our many supporters, without whom none of this would have been possible! We wish everyone an excellent end to 2024, and look forward to continuing to learn and collaborate together in 2025!
