Following our visit to the Central African Republic last February, we had the honour of meeting His Excellency, the President of the Central African Republic, on August 17, 2024. This meeting further strengthened our ties with this country where, with the support from Luxembourg’s Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs, we have been collaborating with Ahdieh Foundation as they strive to provide quality education for children and youth in local communities.

Unity Foundation’s President, Fernand Schaber, presented our mission and long-standing partnership with Ahdieh Foundation. Having witnessed firsthand the impact of our partner’s efforts, Fernand was able to share how, since 2003, Ahdieh has endeavored to respond to the educational needs of the country, mainly through teacher training and the promotion of community schools. 

In recent years, Ahdieh Foundation has also strengthened its collaborations with local government agencies, the Ministry of Education and UNICEF, among others, to embark in joint initiatives.

His Excellency, the President of the Central African Republic, himself an academic and former rector of the University of Bangui, stressed the crucial importance of “investing in human capital” and reaffirmed that local communities must be the main actors in their own development. He also expressed his deep interest in Ahdieh Foundation’s approach and in meeting with its directors to deepen his knowledge of their activities.

We are deeply grateful for this enriching meeting, which testified to the support of His Excellency, the President of the Central African Republic, towards our partner organization’s vision to promote universal education in their country.
