Looking back on the year 2022
19/12/2022What pedagogical approach to build self-confidence and motivation in individuals?
Feedback on the training of the educators of the “Centre d'orientation socio-professionnelle”.
On December 1st 2022, the 8 educators of the Centre d’orientation socio-professionnelle (COSP) met at the offices of Unity Foundation in Luxembourg City to consolidate their training in the pedagogical material of “Mercy’s Blessing”, an award-winning short film rich in topics of exchange and reflection for all participants from 11 years old on.
COSP has been using this workshop for 4 years now in collaboration with Unity Foundation. The objective is to facilitate exchange between participants in their groups and to address deep topics such as the notions of privilege, choice and altruism, which can inspire their reflections. During this session, COSP members discovered various facilitation methods and activities to address the themes in ways other than words, through movement, interactions and senses.

One of the understandings shared by COSP and Unity Foundation is that the purpose of education is to help the individual in his moral and intellectual growth and in the development of his capacity to contribute to the transformation of society. It is therefore incumbent upon educators not to limit their mission to the transmission of knowledge and obligations related to the professional integration of participants, but to accompany them in becoming aware of the knowledge, principles and values useful to their individual development, in relation to society.
Valeurs et capacités partagées par les éducateurs, qui leur semblent essentielles pour le développement personnel et Values and capacities shared by the educators, which they consider essential for the personal and professional development of their participants.
To this end, the training offered a variety of pedagogical approaches and activities to engage the participants’ personal motivation beyond learning their profession. The educators themselves experienced activities that, always linked to the themes of the “Mercy’s Blessing” workshop, led the participants to (1) reconnect with themselves: their interests, passions and talents; (2) create a trusting and warm environment by bringing the participants to interact and exchange on simple and personal topics, and (3) provoke joyful moments, essential to the functioning of the intellect and the open-mindedness.
A big THANK YOU to COSP for its trust and for participating in this training in a dynamic and joyful way!
