It is with great joy that we would like to congratulate our Zambian partner “Inshindo Foundation” on the opening of the “Ngungu Center for Community Agriculture”, located in Kabwe’s Ngungu township. The ceremony took place at the beginning of March in the presence of some 130 attendees, which included government representatives such a as the Provincial Minister Sydney Mushanga, who also addressed those gathered:
Provincial Minister Sydney Mushanga, also a member of parliament, attended the 1 March opening of the Ngungu Center for Community Agriculture.
“This center holds great promise for further advancement of the learning processes at the grassroots in the area of sustainable food production. I am pleased that you have regarded it as a place where knowledge about agriculture will not only be shared to community members, but will also be generated,” said Mr. Mushanga, a member of parliament.
Inshindo Foundation has been working in this region for over a decade. Since 2017 it has been our privilege to support them in their efforts to implement the Preparation for Social Action (PSA) program in different regions of the country. In their context, the agricultural component of the program plays an important role. Thus, our partner has placed vital importance to support communities in the generation and systematization of knowledge around small farms and sustainable food production.

The opening of the “Ngungu Center for Community Agriculture” is without a doubt a milestone in the development of the activities in the region. It will be staffed by local residents closely connected to the area’s food production systems and they will work with participants of Inshindo’s educational programs, such as PSA, to learn about the application of sustainable systems of food production on small experimental plots of land.
The Ngungu Center for Community Agriculture includes small plots of land on which to learn about the application of sustainable systems of food production.
Likewise, we are rejoiced by the opening of another educational facility in Mwinilunga : the “Eric Manton Training Institute”, which houses among other the regional coordination office of the PSA program (program supported by Unity Foundation).
The official opening of these facilities in the presence of traditional chiefs, headmen, and government officials shows that they belong to the people, marking milestones in educational developments in Zambia.
This plaque commemorates last week’s opening of the Ngungu Center for Community Agriculture in Kabwe, Zambia.
